Exalted dance forms for bringing the street to the stage
In this emblematic piece, Volmir Cordeiro portrays the multiple faces and bodies to be found within the confines of the street. Oscillating between wandering and fright, gentle movements and surges, the Brazilian choreographer and performer, in residence at Points communs, climbs into the skin of, and transmits, these figures in equal measure. For the Arts & Humanités festival, he takes over the Théâtre 95 hall, as if by breaking and entering. Alongside him, the musician Washington Timbó makes the whole framework vibrate, in order to transcend the onstage movements. The ensuing dance serves to bring tension to the constant changes between violence-filled space and festive choreography, set to the rhythm of the drum beat. A world inhabited by a thousand ghosts is summoned up before our very eyes…
