Losing it
Samaa Wakim, Samar Haddad King
[Palestine]
fri 28 Mar – sat 29 Mar 2025
War-haunted body
How do you grow up amidst the constant threat of being bombed? What happens when the fighting becomes something you breathe and feel, physically, every day? Living in a country at war equates to having your whole universe constantly taken over by politics and violence. The choreographer and performer Samaa Wakim spent her childhood in the occupied Palestinian territories. In this choreographic solo, she explores the impact on her identity. Using movement and sound, she evokes her memories, trauma and the imaginary world she created in order to survive. Driven by the sound of her own voice and by live music from the artist Samar Haddad King, she drifts between fear and hope, and between the sounds of dread and those of comfort.
