Naïssam Jalal, the Syrian flautist and composer, continues to draw her inspiration from non-Western forms of music and the hybrid nature of modal jazz. From out of this blending of influences is born music of a vibrant, unclassifiable kind. A prize-winner at the Victoires du Jazz competition in 2019 with the album Quest of the Invisible, she is adept at creating moments of collective grace. A few years ago, she was forced to spend several weeks in hospital, and it was here that she was able to experience the healing power of music at its fullest. Composing music that is always closely related to her own life, in Rituels de guérison, Naïssam Jalal conjures up music the tenderness and intensity of which has the power to heal our deepest wounds. Accompanied by the cellist Clément Petit, Claude Tchamitchian on double-bass, and Zaza Desiderio on drums, she will be starting off her residency at Point communs with a musical encounter that is full of gentleness and compassion.
