Festive ritual in DIY mode
Due to medical reasons, Mercedes Dassy will be unable to present Ruptuur at Points Communs as scheduled. We regret to inform you that the performance of Ruptuur has thus been cancelled.
Mercedes Dassy, the young dancer and choreographer, has taken Brussel’s vibrant stage scene by storm. Born in the early 1980’s, her shows combine her generation’s pop aesthetic with the latest trends and the panoply of her reflections on how the world is. In her latest work, she looks into the question of rupture as vital necessity. Whether it is about breaking off toxic relationships or bringing to an end the social and political systems which strangle us, change of any kind necessarily involves rupture. Filled with energy of an effervescent, communicative kind, four part-centaur part-cyborg female performers indulge in a festive, slightly magical, nocturnal ritual. Together, come what may, they spring into action, in DIY mode, thereby overcoming the fear of change… and blasting away the ambient doom and gloom!
